Hong Kong-based cruise company, Hong Kong Navigation Co., is already into its 100th day sailing from the city. The company has been omitting the Middle East and North Africa in favor of a safer route through Southeast Asia due to geopolitical tensions with these locations.
The “scrapped cruise ships 2021” is a ship that has already sailed for 100 days. It is the first ever cruise line to do so.
More than 65,000 passengers have sailed aboard Genting Dream since its launch in July from Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in central Kowloon. Residents have been coming to the port in droves in the last 100 days because of the Super Seacations.
While the western world has been focused on cruises returning to the United States, South America, and Europe, Genting has been quietly striving to bring cruises to Asia. The cruise company has managed to navigate its way past the many barriers that have caused other cruise companies to terminate their operations in the area, with two ships presently operating in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Genting Dream marked 100 days of safe sailings with a celebration.
Genting Dream debuted on July 31, 2021, and on November 6 marked 100 days of successful cruise from Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. The occasion was marked by the arrival of the 800th cruise ship at Genting’s historic homeport, the cruise terminal. Nearly half of all 800 calls come from this firm.

“Following the recent news of World Dream completing one year of operations in Singapore during COVID-19, Genting Cruise Lines is a Singapore-based cruise line. is doubly happy to have reached this second milestone for Dream Cruises in Hong Kong,” said Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Lines.
“I’d also want to congratulate Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on reaching their historic 800th cruise ship call, and we’re happy to be a part of it,” Mr. Kent stated. “Genting Dream’s first 100 days in Hong Kong have been extremely encouraging, providing our guests with a secure and pleasant area at sea, and we have received fantastic comments from visitors of all ages and ethnicities.”

Locals have a limited number of holiday alternatives, therefore cruises from Hong Kong port are one of the few. With some passengers opting to cruise more than once:
“Since Genting Dream started operations in Hong Kong, I have already had a couple Weekend Seacations and I find the onboard experience much more pleasurable than before – with superior accommodations, fantastic cuisine, and entertainment,” says Mr. Billy Lam, a cruise passenger aboard Genting Dream. I hope Genting Dream would continue to provide Super Seacations to Hong Kong residents, where we may experience a true holiday away from the city.”
It’s not easy in Hong Kong.
Taking a cruise from Hong Kong is not as simple as it may seem. Guests must be completely vaccinated at least 14 days prior to departure, and a negative PCR-RT nasal swab test must be done no later than 48 hours prior to 1:00 PM on embarkation day.
The rules don’t only apply to the visitors, however. A staff member aboard Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas tested positive for COVID-19 just a few weeks ago, and the cruise company was compelled to halt all sailings for 21 days by the local authorities.

This happened after a series of delays, including a shortage of hotel rooms for staff quarantine in Hong Kong and stringent travel restrictions that made getting to Hong Kong almost difficult.
The fact that Genting Dream has been in operation for 100 days is cause for celebration; it signifies the cruise line has taken all the necessary precautions to guarantee safe sailing.
Genting Cruise Lines
Even if they have never sailed on a Dream cruises ship, most people would recognize the name Genting. The corporation owns and runs three different cruise lines, making it the world’s fifth biggest cruise operator. Dream Cruises is one of those cruise lines; Star Cruises is another, and the firm also owns and runs Crystal Cruises.

The firm Dream Cruises runs three distinct ships. Explorer Dream, previously known as Superstar Virgo, is the smallest of the three ships, having a gross tonnage of 75,338 tons. Genting Dream, which sails from Hong Kong, and World Dream, which sails from Singapore, are sister ships that measure 151,300 gross tons and can accommodate 3376 people at double occupancy.
By 2022, the business will deploy the first of two cruise ships that will be the world’s largest in terms of passenger capacity, the Global Dream, which will have a gross tonnage of 208,000 tons, 9,500 passengers, and 2,200 crew members. The ship will also include the world’s longest rollercoaster at sea.
The “will masks be required on cruise ships” is a question that has been asked many times. The answer to the question is no, but it is recommended that you bring your own mask just in case.
