Carnival Horizon is the newest ship in the Carnival fleet and it’s a beauty. With its sleek design, new features, and amenities, this ship will make your next vacation an unforgettable experience.

The carnival horizon itinerary 2022 is a blog post that tells the story of the author’s first day on board.

While the following was written during the Carnival Horizon sailing on July 18, it took some time to go through the hundreds of pictures I collected and decide which ones to use for this unusual type of trip report.

Yes, I’m back aboard the Carnival Horizon, and no, it’s just been two weeks since I stepped off the ship. And yes, that means I’ve been on three cruises in the last month. I suppose I’m making up for lost time after 15 months without sailing.

I thought I’d do something different this week since I wrote a very comprehensive trip report on the Carnival Horizon sailing, which was her first after the closure.

Instead of writing as extensively as I did a few weeks ago (the first of which can be seen here), I decided to do something a bit more… imaginative.

So, over the next several days, I’ll be posting photos from my most recent trip, along with some brief comments. Because this time, I’d want it to be less about me and more about you being able to imagine yourself on board using your imagination.

I understand that the majority of you have yet to board a ship. For whatever reason, it may take a long for some. So, perhaps, the picture galleries I’ll be posting over the next several days will allow you to relive some of the things we all like.

It begins even before you board the ship. That giddy sensation you get when you see a sign greeting cruisers…

…or you get your first glimpse of the ship. I don’t know about you, but every time I see a ship — whether I’m sailing on one or just passing by a canal — it draws my entire attention.

Then there’s the climb up the gangway. It’s as if the glass-enclosed walkway somehow amplifies and amplifies the thrill you’re already experiencing to the nth degree.

One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Carnival ships is that the atrium is the first thing you see when you embark. There’s usually always music blaring and beverages being consumed, and your vacation has officially begun. You can see why they’re nicknamed “the Fun Ships” right away.

I’ve observed that on all three cruises I’ve taken since sailings began, some individuals seem almost hesitant to let themselves go, even if just for a few minutes after boarding, as if they can’t quite believe it’s real.

Perhaps they’ve had a number of cruises canceled and are concerned that this one will be as well.

No, cruising has returned.

For me, I quickly reverted to my pre-shutdown routine. This entails taking care of business and making your way to Guy’s Burger Joint. It’s something that everyone does. Perhaps not a burger, but “it.” Whatever it is that they mean when they say, “I’m officially on vacation.” It might be grabbing a drink. Perhaps it’s on its way to the casino to see which machine they’ll be feeding later.

Perhaps it’s as simple as taking a deep breath and stating, “I’m here.”

I like arriving on board as soon as possible to take up the mood before the rest of the passengers arrive. It’s also a wonderful time to capture photos when there aren’t many (or any) people.

It’ll be time to sail away before you realize it. To be honest, I seldom attend sailaway celebrations. Instead, I seek out a peaceful place where I can gaze at the ocean and bask in the tranquility of having left everything behind.

If you’re fortunate, you’ll be able to see other ships in port as you sail by. In this instance, it’s the Norwegian Gem, a ship I haven’t yet traveled on but which one of our employees adores.

Sailing aboard a Carnival ship means receiving the “Cheers!” beverage package, which allows you to sample beverages you may not have tried otherwise.

While I’ve had Bloody Marys before, this one — topped with crunchy bacon — was a first for me and immediately qualified as a “win.”

While I stated I wouldn’t go into great detail in my “travel report light,” I know a lot of you — like me — are interested in cuisine, so I’ll tell you that on embarkation day, we had a wonderful dinner at a steakhouse.

If there was a weak point in the dinner, it was the smoked oysters (seen in the upper right-hand picture above), which were topped with a froth that, in my opinion, overpowered the basic, salty flavor that I seek for in an oyster. Otherwise, it was an excellent dinner.

I’ll also tell you that while my trip reports two weeks ago — most of which ended with me basically crashing out after dinner — earned me a perhaps well-deserved mocking from co-workers, I managed to actually hit a couple of shows on the first night of this trip, including a stop at the Punchliner Comedy Club (which was held in the Liquid Lounge on this sailing).

Tomorrow is a sea day, which means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to photograph the ocean and the ship. Until then, thank you for taking the time to read this.
