Carnival Cruise Line is resuming its New Orleans sailings after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city in 2005. The company’s decision to reopen for business comes as a relief to many, but some are still wary of the safety risks posed by the storm-ravaged region.

The carnival cruise cancellations 2021 is a topic that has been trending in the news recently. Carnival Cruise Line will resume sailing to New Orleans on May 2nd, 2019.

The Carnival Glory is set to leave the Port of New Orleans today, making it the first ship to leave the city since the epidemic shut down the entire cruise industry in March 2020.

This inaugural seven-day cruise will depart from the Erato Street Cruise Terminal and take guests to three popular Bahamian destinations: Bimini, Freeport, and Nassau. Carnival held a ‘Back to Fun’ event in the aforementioned terminal today to commemorate the occasion, which included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Vice President of Guest Operations Sarah Beth Reno, Captain Nicola Iaccarino of the Carnival Glory, and Port of New Orleans President and CEO Brandy D. Christian, who personally welcomed the first guests on board.

“We’re extremely delighted to offer our passengers with a chance to go Back to Fun while supporting the local economy in one of our most popular homeports,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line. “With the largest range of cruise options and itineraries, Carnival is the number one cruise operator out of New Orleans, and we are thrilled to bring our distinctive brand of fun back to this wonderful city.”

The 2,980-passenger Carnival Glory is one of the first ships in the fleet to use the line’s new red, white, and bull hull design, which pays homage to the line’s heritage as “America’s Cruise Line.”

Carnival Valor will join Carnival Glory in sailing its previous schedule of short cruise itineraries to Mexico, including four- and five-day voyages that have proved to be extremely successful in the past. Carnival Cruise Line expects to transport 400,000 passengers yearly out of New Orleans with this pair of ships running constantly, which is more than any other line.
